He is unwilling to divulge too much about himself. From bits of information dropped during his time in ALASTAIR, he is an exile from his home plane of Soul Society due to being accused of a crime he didn't commit. At one point, he was a jailer and, at another point, an assassin. He was also a Captain in the shinigami military unit and started the first research and development institute in Soul Society.
